The history of the Rotary Club of Gig Harbor

Our club was founded in 1974 by Gig Harbor business people who had a desire to be of service to the community and the world. Over the years we have made an impact both locally and internationally, with efforts like:

  • Polio eradication
  • Scholarships
  • The Taste of Gig Harbor event
  • Purdy Women’s Prison education and reentry
  • The Pavilion and restrooms downtown
  • The Rotary Bark Park dog park
  • The Narrows Airport Aviation Zone
  • A new lead boat for the Gig Harbor Canoe & Kayak Club
  • The Dolly Parton Imagination Library

Every year we build bikes for kids, give away food baskets at Thanksgiving, provide the hanging flower baskets in town, and contribute in many other ways to making the world a little bit better than how we found it. Now 100+ strong, we seek new opportunities for service while continuing to build on the work of the past.
